Letter From the President:

We're on the home stretch of another great year of ISES Programs and we are ending with my favorite, the Restaurant Tour. What's not to love? Looking at different venues, sampling delicious food, and relaxing with friends. The ISES year is ending as it has begun - well.

June is shaping up to be a time of transitions for me. My son, my only baby, is graduating from high school. My husband, in a bid to cheer me up, noted that I'll again be able to do what I did before Justin was born. For some reason eating Top Ramen noodles, listening to Duran Duran as loud as the stereo will go, and drinking some unknown mix of booze and sugar out of a giant garbage can with 50 of my non-closest friends doesn't sound all that attractive. OK. I lie. Thinking about cranking up some Duran Duran sounds pretty freaking good.

My husband and I will be moving into a townhome in Apple Valley in June. I'll still be living in our house in SpamTown part time, at least until it sells. I'm excited about the move as it will allow me to attend more industry events and go out more often with some of you. I'll also get to have sushi any time I want.

June is also when my term as Minneapolis-St Paul ISES Chapter President is up. It has been wonderful! Exciting, busy, and we're right in the midst of all the end of the ISES year wrap up. Re-writing the board job descriptions, creating our entry binders for the ISES Spirit of Excellence Awards (which we have
kicked serious butt in for last several years!), and preparing to pass on our knowledge to next year's board. I move to Immediate Past-President, which is probably the best position on the board. I believe former Presidents mostly grace the freshly elected nOObs with their institutional knowledge, assist with the Mentoring program and stand by to negotiate the release of any young journalists jailed in hostile countries.

But first, in order to live that exciting life, I need to renew my ISES Membership. And so do you! Which you can do by clicking
here. If you haven't yet joined ISES, but have decided today is the day, contact Leslie Larson at leslie@ises-msp.org and she will get you all set.

ISES MSP Call for Volunteers

Get the most out of your membership!  Every year the ISES MSP board of directors looks to engage our membership.  The easiest way is to help with our chapter's events, communications, and special projects.  Whether you have an hour or 100 hours, we can use your help!  Your insight will help us become an even better chapter, and you'll get to know the board and other members in the process--what better way to get your name out there and take advantage of everything that ISES MSP has to offer.
